Leo the lion

Paper craft lion, painted and glued

We had a great fun with the Jelly Tots this morning, where we made lions using paints, glue and markers.

To make this lovely but fierce lion you will need:
1 medium paper plate
yellow and orange paint
yellow tissue paper (for the mane - long hair)
paper glue
small printing paper (for the eyes and nose)
orange and black markers
a pair of scissors
and a salad spinner (yes, your eyes do not cheat)

1. Put the paper plate into the salad spinner (preferably not the one mum prepares dinner with) and add generous droplets of each colour, randomly. Close the spinner and start spinning. Give it a good spin. Take the lid off and tada, the paint is mixed in a unique way that no brush can paint.
2. While the paint is drying, tear the tissue paper into strips. Put glue one end and fasten to the edge of the plate. Work around.
3. Use the orange marker to draw hairy lines on the tissue paper.
4. Use the black marker and draw two eyes and a nose onto the printing paper. Cut them out then glue features onto the plate/head.
5. Use the black marker to draw the mouth. Done!

Lo and behold Leo the mighty lion was born. Have fun!
